Our Story
We roar together...
Once upon a time, long ago in the Summer of '23, two midlife Facebook bloggers (Marie from Midlife Dramas in Pyjamas and Yvonne from Growing Old Disgracefully) discovered they lived just a few miles apart...
"We must meet for a quick coffee forthwith," they cried (although they have since discovered that they far prefer meeting for slow cocktails).

The quick coffee lasted about three hours as they bonded over the joys of entertaining other people, dealing with trolls and staying out of Facebook jail.

A friendship soon formed, and they agreed that they were stronger together. But how? What would they do together?
Worry ye not, dear reader. The liberal application of shopping and an unhealthy dose of Pornstar Martini saw the ideas begin to flow.
"Hashtag women supporting women!" bellowed our doughty duo, clinking glasses and causing the Tom Cruise wannabe behind the bar to mishandle his shaker. "We shall start a podcast. And...and...do other stuff."
What this other stuff is will no doubt become clear in time. However, as we write this little intro, in February 2025, we are about to embark on our podcasting adventure; we are about to roar together, laugh together and welcome some guests that you will find truly inspirational. We hope you'll join us.

Cheers xx
Marie Thom

Marie is a big knickers wearer, frantic chin plucker, gin lover and muffin-top fighter who worships at the altar of the incontinence liner. She draws her eyebrows in which are balding at an alarming rate, along with her nether regions. She doesn’t draw those in because that would be just plain weird. She writes the Facebook page Midlife Dramas in Pyjamas and has written articles for Good Housekeeping, Best, Good Housekeeping online and Menopause Life Magazine. She has been interviewed on BBC Radio Newcastle and appeared as a guest on podcasts. She now regularly speaks to women’s groups.

Marie’s Facebook page exists to make her followers laugh, as well as realise that they’re not alone while travelling the menopause journey. Many people comment, “I thought it was just me those things happened to,” to which Marie always replies, “It’s never just you on my page.”

She loves to write funny poems and they’ve been used by other people to support events including incontinence clinics, menopause training sessions and a theatre performance for International Women’s Day. She has also presented her poems at Pause Live.

Marie’s followers love her down-to-earth approach to life, along with her searing honesty about both the menopause and herself.
Yvonne Vincent
When Yvonne woke up one morning in August 2018 and decided to start a Facebook blog, she had no idea that it would change her life. Her friends kept telling her that she should make her funny nonsense public, so even though it felt scary and awkward, she created Growing Old Disgracefully and let everyone into the highs and lows of dealing with family life, bogus body hair and the ever-vigilant Queen of the Purple Carpet Slippers (Old Ivy Next Door).
Fast forward to 2020, and Yvonne’s online followers suggested she put her lockdown posts into a book. The scary, awkward feeling about writing the blog had never left her, but she’d listened then, so perhaps she should listen now.
It turned out to be the start of the most awkwardest, scariest, excitingest, wonderfulest thing ever. Her lockdown diary, The Big Blue Jobbie, sold in the tens of thousands and was quickly followed by Frock in Hell then the Losers Club series.

In a supreme test of her impostor syndrome, Yvonne found herself sandwiched between Marian Keyes and Richard Osman as Mumsnet's number 2 best summer read. Suddenly, the lady who had been quietly coasting towards (she hoped) promotions and pension found herself being interviewed and doing book signings. Weird. But good weird.
In January 2023, just over two years after publishing her first book, Yvonne did the scariest, most awkwardest thing ever. She walked away from her nice, safe job to write full time. Since then, she has also been focusing on healthy lifestyle changes (cocktails don’t count). She’s 49 and many quarters now, and having lost her mum to a stroke at 59, she wants to stick around for a bit longer. After all, life is only just starting to get interesting!
